Babe Winkelman Signs NikonSniper Photos

Fishing legend, Babe Winkelman signs a NikonSniper photo for Roger Poffenberger. Roger held up the line to meet Babe while getting photos signed for all his buddies who couldn't come to the show. Hmmm, I dunno Roger, I kinda think all your buddies should be taking you out to dinner for going to all that trouble for them. That's what a bunch of stand up guys would do for me.

One Of My Six Dandies

This pencil sketch was beautifully done by Barbra Joan of Florida. The sketch was inspired by a photo I took a few years ago of our 4th granddaughter, Gracie, while she was bringing me the dandiest of lions from our backyard in Woodstock, IL.

Hello From Tara At Fort Campbell

We are constantly thankful for those of you who pray for our soldier. Our daughter, Tara is back in the USA after a year in South Korea. Tara is an Army Combat Field Medic and is now stationed with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell, KY.
Thank you so much for your continued prayers. May God keep your soldiers safe from harm. May He lift them and encourage them when they feel exhausted and weary from being gone from you.

Five years ago today, on February 2, Ground Hog Day 2007, my Dad, the former pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Oakville, Ontario went to be with the Lord.
This is a photo taken at White Sands National Monument approximately 40 years ago with Dad and my two brothers, Daniel of Oakville, Ontario and Peter of Leander, Texas. I have always liked this photo because it looked like we were having a family meeting in the clouds. One day, this really will happen!
On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

The "Take A Guy" / "Leave A Guy" Box

Perhaps some of you recall that Pastor Gary has been featured on NikonSniper in the past. He is still a crazy bike pedaling fool in mountain country and proved to still have the ultimate skill in athleticism when he climbed into a "Take One / Leave One" box in a Colorado cow town.
Gary has always wanted to have a blog of his own but he is a little too busy to have daily or even weekly posts. It takes him too long to type. HA!
So, Gary agreed to climb into this box for me as long as I told the world about his amazaing ability in photography. So, ... I am quite happy to show you some of his very best photos over the next few days. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Some of these photos would be impossible for me to get as I would never be able to handle the 15+ mile walk through bear country. Which is insane!

I had a surprise visit from a dear friend who is in fact an Asssociate Pastor at Cedar Creek Church in Montrose, CO. Over the past few days we have visited and had some great laughs together. We caught up with what has been happening in our lives and we had some great and encouraging conversations.
Gary is from this area in Northern Illinois. This is where we met. I have visited with him in his Colorado home and have seen a bit of his world and the surrounding beautiful mountain terrain. Fortunately, Gary can take a joke ... or let's just say we probably would have never been good friends. Here is a photo of Gary from several years ago that I took at Green Lake, WI. Oddly enough, he still looks the same.

In a few hours our Army Medic daughter, Tara, will board a plane in South Korea and will begin the long journey back to us for Christmas. We have really missed her goofy laughter and smile from all our family gatherings.We are counting the hours now.
Tara left for South Korea last year about this same time after her AIT graduation and did not take any summer leave in order to get extended time over the Christmas holidays with us. I can't wait for this Christmas just to see all our kids, their wives & husbands and our 6 grandkids all under one roof for celebration of the birth of the King. I am crazy looking forward to this years celebration.
